Finding Proof of the Power Within
Sometimes being the victim in your own mind is the easiest (and most dangerous) approach.
If you’re like me, sometimes I am guilty of inflating and bringing ALL the balloons to my own pity party which only adds to the pathetic plot line.
We are constantly telling a story to ourselves in our head. That story line affects our outlook on life and our actions.
What is your story like?
Is it victim-minded or empower-minded?
It is easier to be negative than it is to be positive - inside your own head and with others.
It takes work to get back on top of your mentality and the good news - you are absolutely in control of your thoughts and story.
When we adopt the victim mentality, we are not tapping into the innate and divine power found within each of us.
To create proof of our power, we have our brain to help us find proof in our outside world.
At the bottom of our brain stem, there is a bundle of nerves called the Reticular Activating System (RAS) that acts as a filter to only patch through the information that’s important to us according to our thoughts.
From our thoughts and our focus, the RAS looks for proof in our outside world to support our thoughts.
If we adopt a victim mentality, then our RAS will help us find all the events and areas of our life where we are the victim and focus on that story line.
If we adopt a growth mindset and have empowering thoughts, then our same RAS will help us find proof in our life where challenges we face are opportunities for growth.
But, have you ever felt so deep in the victim story, that you are not really sure you can crawl out of the darkness?
To help combat this victim story, it takes work to create your own momentum.
Take action to CREATE YOUR OWN PROOF of your strength and vigor.
Here is a simple practice - give something up for 7 days OR add something productive for 7 days.
Look at your life and consider some questionable habits that you could let go of
Too much TV? Eliminate for a week
Too much sugar? Let go of the luscious treats
Too much social media? Detox from the deed
Or reversely, look at your life and consider habits you would like to adopt
Feeling lethargic? Commit to moving your body
Feeling sad? Commit to journaling your thoughts
Feeling tired? Commit to a healthy bedtime routine
So here’s your challenge: consider adding or taking something away in your life this week - and be fiercely disciplined with it.
Shifting your thoughts can change your approach which can change your actions to create your own proof, display your inner power, and conquer your story.
Think about the feeling you will have after seven days of showing up for yourself and building your own power.
How can you find proof of your power within?
