Invisible and Untouchable
“Ninety-nine percent of who you are is invisible and untouchable.”
- Richard Buckminster Fuller, American architect, philosopher, mathematician, teacher and visionary.
There are parts of you people can see but most of you are parts people CAN’T see.
There are parts of you that only YOU know and feel.
It’s not fair to judge a person by just physical characteristics, but to also acknowledge their mentality and spirit beyond the physical.
Our physicality is only a minuscule portion of who we truly are.
Your thoughts, emotions, beliefs, experiences, motivations, awareness, and creativity are the parts of you that can not be physically seen or observed.
These are the traits that have the potential to accomplish a quest, deepen relationships, create change in our world, and empower yourself from within.
The inner work you do is something that makes “ninety-nine percent of who you are” a unique, unforgettable, and unmatched being.
Everyone’s perception is their reality - another person’s perception of you is not a fair evaluation of who you truly are.
So let the haters hate, and the potatoes potate.
While everyone in your life is trying to know you better, isn’t it interesting that meanwhile you are trying to better know yourself?
The most important traits of you are invisible and untouchable.
These traits are the vehicle that makes you who you are.
You are in control of:
how you think
how you recognize your emotions
how you create
how you experience the world
and what you choose to believe
You are not the space your body take up, but instead you are HOW you show up in your spaces.
You are not your clothes or your image, but instead you are HOW you define your style and strut with swagger.
You are not your work, but instead you are HOW you complete the work with diligence and passion.
You are not your sport, but instead you are HOW you prepare with dedication and vigor.
You are not an athlete on a team, but instead you are HOW you speak and treat your teammates.
We are so much deeper than a physical body.
Be brave enough to do a deep dive into getting to know who you are.
The only way to truly develop who you are is to spend solo time working to understand the deepest layers of your essence.
TAKE ACTION
Grab a piece of paper, choose a prompt or two, and set a 5-10 minute timer.
Let your pen write your thoughts to start revealing your true self.
What beliefs do I currently have that shape my inner story?
What beliefs do I need to let go of?
What beliefs do I need to adopt?
What I am currently proud of myself fo?
What do I want people to remember me for? What is the legacy I want to leave?
What are my values?
How do my values and priorities show up with how I use my time?
What do I love?
Who do I love?
What have been my blind spots lately?
What advice could I give my younger self?
What is my why?
What are my ‘next level self’ thoughts?
How can I adopt those thoughts today?
What emotions serve me well?
What emotions do not serve me well?
How do I like to create and put things out into the world? How can I do more of this?
You are more than your looks, your clothes, your sport, your job, your car, your house, etc. etc.
You. Are. So. Much. More.
Give yourself credit.
Show up and do the work on yourself.
Be willing to take time to find out who you really are and who you want to be.
“Ninety-nine percent of who you are is invisible and untouchable.”
