Celebrate Small Wins

No matter what dream you are chasing, there will be triumphs, there will be setbacks, there will be good days, there will be bad days.

Those who survive and conquer the road to mastery (in whatever field) must be resilient and realistic.

There will always be unexpected twists, turns and setbacks on your road but it is all part of the journey to greatness!

Staying on the road to mastery requires immense mental and emotional energy.

It requires time invested and sacrificed time from friends and family at times.

The secret to remain on this road is to not just celebrate reaching the end checkpoint, but instead celebrating all of the checkpoints along the way.

Celebrating small wins has many benefits, ranging from boosted self esteem, sustained focus to complete smaller tasks, and momentum to keep going towards the larger dream.

It is easy to brush over the hard work and effort it took to get through a turning point, event, or the immense amount of work it took to reach your greatest breakthrough.

By being intentional and celebrating small wins, it can create deeper purpose and elation while on your quest.

We often compare ourselves to others and wonder how they did, how they got to where they are, and why they get to be special.

No one is special.

No one can hide from work required to achieve great things.

The lesson to be learned from those who have “made it” is those individuals never gave up and choose to keep going even when it becomes challenging.

So how can YOU acknowledge small wins?

The journey is different for everyone but here are some ideas:

  • Break tasks down: take your big dream and break it into smaller, manageable tasks. Every time you achieve a small tasks, mark it off your list for a natural release of dopamine in your brain!

  • Treat yourself: assign different rewards for your checkpoints along the way. These don’t always have to be food. Maybe it is a refreshing walk outside, a energizing call to a friends, or okay maybe it can be a yummy treat you enjoy!

  • Recognize progress: as simple as this one is, recognize your progress over perfection. If you were able to get a smaller task complete within your deadline (but it wasn’t perfect) acknowledge your achievement! Small progress is the only way to accomplish any task no matter how big or small.

  • Give yourself credit: sometimes our nose is to the grindstone and we have tunnel vision towards our end goal that we forget to give credit for even attempting the task. Stop and take time to build yourself up - not everyone is willing to make the sacrifice and investment to become great, so give yourself credit that you are even going this direction!

Maybe you’ve been working towards something for a while but haven’t stopped to see how far you’ve come.

Be intentional about celebrating your efforts, your progress, your completion of tasks along the way.

The best way to keep the turbulent journey fun and motivated with momentum is to celebrate small wins.

Each small task completed deserves a small celebration of your progress!
