How to Demolish Limiting Beliefs

Our thoughts are programmed to work in patterns.

We all have the voice in our heads that sets limits on what we can or cannot do.

Conversely, there is also a voice that says anything is possible. 

Some of us have been talking to ourselves negatively and expressing our limits for such a long time, it seems like the norm.

Our brain’s job every day is to make sure we survive.

Because of this primal instinct, our brain puts natural limits on what we believe we can achieve. 

If we can acknowledge these limits, we can start the process of demolishing them. 

When you realize that limiting thoughts have entered your brain space, or have been continually looping in your brain, it is valuable to sit down with a pen and paper to work through them. 

Today I am challenging YOU to challenge and smash your ANTs (Automatic Negative Thoughts) and self-limiting beliefs.

We each have a CHOICE on what we will use our energy for - allowing negativity to flow or letting our positivity grow. 

As humans, it takes less energy to be negative than to be positive.

That is why for majority of us, when we have negative thoughts about ourselves or others, it's much easier to act on these thoughts.

It takes MORE energy to challenge negative thoughts or be positive.

Switching our patterns from negative to positive will take some practice. When you notice ANTs (Automatic Negative Thoughts), write those thoughts down on a piece of paper.

After identifying your self-limiting beliefs and ANTS, answer these 6 questions, derived from The Work by Katie Byron:

  • Is it true?

  • Is it absolutely or always true?

  • What evidence do you have that it isn’t true?

  • How do you react and behave when you think this thought?

  • Who would you be without this thought?

  • What action can you take to disprove this thought?

Just by identifying your limiting beliefs, you can minimize the power they have over you.

If you are able to dismantle your self-limiting beliefs and ANTS with the six questions above, then you are on your way to demolish your limiting beliefs. 

This is a process you will have to practice multiple times to fully demolish your limiting beliefs.

We all have potential untapped and abilities to unlock.

A lot of times, we are the ones who get in our own way.

When you take the time to challenge your limiting beliefs, you are working to operate with a high performance mindset. 

It’s a choice.. Either let your limiting beliefs rule you or you can rule out your limiting beliefs.

Our thoughts matter, and by bringing awareness to when you are limiting yourself can give your power back. 

The mentally tough, the true Warriors, those dedicated to growth will decide to recalibrate their thoughts and use a plan to shift behavior.

Use these tools to create a positive and uplifting headspace that YOU want to inhabit.
